Amboseli is arguably Kenya’s second most loved national park. Dominated by a background of Mount Kilimanjaro, Amboseli has a wide array of wildlife making it a popular tourist destination.
Amboseli lies immediately North West of Mt. Kilimanjaro, on the border with Tanzania. Amboseli was established as a reserve in 1968 and gazetted as a National Park in 1974. The Park covers 392 square Kilometers and forms part of the much larger 3,000 Km2 Amboseli ecosystem. Large concentrations of wildlife occur here in the dry season. It is surrounded by 6 communally owned group ranches.
The National Park embodies 5 main wildlife habitats (open plains, acacia woodland, rocky thorn bush country, swamps and marshland) and covers part of a Pleistocene lake basin, now dry. Within this basin is a temporary lake, Lake Amboseli, that floods during years of heavy rainfall. Amboseli is famous for its big game and its great scenic beauty – the landscape is dominated by Mt. Kilimanjaro.
A 3-day safari taken by road or by air depending on your preferences and budget will give you some good time to explore the Amboseli National Park. Accommodation can be at 5-star lodges or luxury tented camps, budget or mid-range tented camp. All meals will be taken at your lodge or luxury or mid-range tented camp. Safaris are private in exclusive safari vehicles at your disposal or flying package safaris that are all-inclusive and use a shared safari vehicle (maximum 6 persons per vehicle) with guaranteed window seats for wildlife viewing and photography during game drives. We have listed what we consider to be the best places to stay when exploring Amboseli

Day 01: Nairobi – Amboseli
You will be picked at your Hotel or at the Airport and transferred to Wilson Airport for morning or afternoon scheduled flight to Amboseli National Park. Amboseli is known for its enormous elephant population and other big game that are attracted to the area by underground springs fed from Mt. Kilimanjaro. Your home for the next two nights you will be at the AMBOSELI SERENA LODGE. Built-in the style of a Masai village, this unique lodge enjoys one of the best game-viewing locations in the park. From the comfort of the dining terrace you can watch animals come down to the swamp to drink.
The rooms, each with an uninterrupted view over the ever-changing vistas of the African plains, are styled to a traditional Maasai concept featuring beadwork, gourds, hand-painted murals and the clever use of the traditional manyatta bent-brushwood effect so as to blend an authentic nomadic aura with all the comforts of unabashed five-star luxuries. Guests can also enjoy an acacia-shaded swimming pool fed daily by the melt-waters of Kilimanjaro, a selection of natural timber game viewing decks, a water hole for the animals and an alluring selection of watering holes for the guests.
Arriving in time for lunch, you will have some time to relax before departing on an afternoon game drive in the park. With luck, the cloud cover will lift to reveal the spectacular Mt. Kilimanjaro. Return to the lodge in the early evening in time for sundowner and dinner. Overnight at AMBOSELI SERENA LODGE (LD).

All meals and overnight at AMBOSELI SERENA LODGE (BLD).
